Assistant Payroll Manager

Morgantown, Pennsylvania
Currently looking for an Assistant Payroll Manager to fill an opening with a company located in Morgantown, PA. Interested candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree related to Accounting and have a minimum of 5 years of payroll experience. Knowledge of Canadian rules and regulations highly desired.
This position will perform all activities necessary to process U.S. and Canadian payrolls, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management. The Assistant Payroll Manager will serve as a backup for the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities of the assistant Payroll Manager:
  1. Serve as a backup for the Payroll Manager
  2. Perform end to end processing of company payrolls for US – Biweekly and Canada – Weekly and Biweekly
  3. Update and maintaining payroll records
  4. Be the liaison with staff and management on payroll related inquiries
  5. Prepare payroll reports to meet internal and statutory obligations
  6. Calculation and processing of termination payments
  7. Mange workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  8. Process increases and calculation of back pay
  9. Assist Payroll Manager with month end reconciliation
  10. Reconcile payroll related GL accounts
  11. Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits
  12. Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  13. Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  14. Process manual checks when needed
  15. Understand and stay informed of Federal and State tax calculations
  16. Maintain electronic filing system of team member’s payroll files
Requirements of the Assistant Payroll Manager:
  • Bachelor’s Degree related to Accounting
  • 5+ years payroll experience
  • Knowledge of Canadian rules and regulations highly desired
  • CPP preferred
  • Experience working with Ceridian/Dayforce desired
  • Proficient in PC applications, and ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources to support and verify financial results
