Manage all aspects of the Fiber team actively working with multiple businesses to support tactical and strategic initiatives to improve results and drive business strategy to achieve or exceed their targeted performance levels. This involves prioritizing with the various businesses their needs and allocating the group’s resources; working with the various manufacturing technology teams to develop mill specific priorities, goals, and metrics; and coordinating efforts with other COE groups to maximize effectiveness of the Technology effort.  This position is also responsible for recruiting, training, and career development of the group staff.
The role provides internal customers, 24/7 owner-loyal process expertise in improving manufacturing operations, restoring interrupted service, and providing start-up support to major capital projects.
This position may support confidential business-planning initiatives such as strategic rationalization studies, and acquisition due diligence reviews.
The Fiber Manager position is accountable for delivering results on a wide range of assignments, short and long-term, across our global mill system.  The Manager must work well with varied teams and be able to quickly engage employees from all levels of the organization from executive to the shop floor, and influence vendors and contractors.
The Fiber Manager role requires the ability, communication skills, and presence to influence all levels of the organization from bottom to top.  The Fiber Manager works independently, contributing to strategic planning within the area of expertise, and able to implement large change projects sustainably and from a position of leadership.  The Fiber Manager needs to be aware of and shapes trends in the area of expertise, comfortable working anywhere in the international environment, able to quickly gain respect even outside of the native language. 
The Fiber Manager is a self-directed individual, and as such needs a wide array of leadership, functional / technical and organizational skills.  Key examples include:

·         Interpersonal Savvy – This position interacts with all levels of the company, across the cultures and languages within IP operations.  The individual must adapt as the situation requires and maintain positive outcomes. ·         Learning on the Fly & Problem Solving – This person is the expert across Manufacturing, including Pulping, Papermaking, Energy, and Advanced Technologies.  As new or unique situations are encountered, they must self-develop technical skills as the situation dictates.   
·         Delegation and Drive for Results – The Fiber Manager must leverage SME’s in her/his own organization as well as those SME’s and Group Managers across all disciplines, make assignments, hold people accountable, and manage work as such to provide bottom line impact in a timely fashion

·         The Fiber Manager can organize, lead, and manage teams to solve specific problems of a very difficult or complex nature from inception through sustainable solution.  Thought process naturally extends problems from the local to the enterprise
·         The Fiber Manager is able to influence effectively all levels of the organization, presenting the compelling and data-based case for change to all parties in understandable language and with business context.  Even very complex technical issues are made understandable to a wide audience.

·         Engineering – Experienced in fundamentals of engineering needed for process or equipment design and knowledgeable of the capital process to at least a moderate level.

 Minimum qualifications:     
·  Minimum of 15 years Pulp and Paper Industry experience with 10 years in manufacturing. 
·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate to groups and individuals at all levels.
·  Demonstrated leadership focused on accountability and results.
·  Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of paper mill operations and processes. 
·   Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Paper Science, or Related Business Field is required.
·   The applicant will be capable of supporting extensive domestic and international travel requirements, and providing process technical support on a business priority basis.
·    In-depth knowledge of various pulping and bleaching processes and the chemistry related to these processes.
50% - 75% of the time: Ability to travel domestic and international is required, sometimes on very short notice.
